One of BBI Autosport’s earliest blank-check builds, this 996 Turbo was transformed into a rear-wheel-drive, GT2-inspired rocket built around a 3.8L Mezger, twin Tial 3076 turbos and a complete E85 fuel system. Built for approximately 1,000 HP at the crank and dyno-verified at 860 WHP on pump E85, with GT3 suspension, genuine Porsche GT2 bodywork, JRZ two-way suspension, Porsche Cup brakes, three-piece HRE wheels and Recaro Pole Positions. Remarkably, never tracked. Preserved for more than a decade in Southern California and recently comprehensively recommissioned by IMA Motorwerke and retuned by the original BBI tuner. 49,000 miles. The original owner effectively told BBI to build the car without a price ceiling.The result was not simply a modified Turbo. It was BBI's interpretation of what a 996 GT2 could become when cost was not the limiting factor.The factory all-wheel-drive system was removed and the car converted to rear-wheel drive. GT3 front suspension and uprights went underneath it. Genuine Porsche GT2 bodywork was fitted, including the OEM GT2 front end, center-radiator conversion, Euro carbon center vent and GT2 decklid with carbon wing blade.Then BBI built the Mezger.The original German-cast block was taken from 3.6 to 3.8 liters with BBI/Mahle pistons, Carrillo rods, a knife-edged and polished crank, ported and polished heads, BBI 12mm head studs and a three-piece head gasket. Twin Tial 3076 turbochargers, Evolution Motorsports intercoolers and a complete BBI E85 fuel system complete the package.Built for approximately 1,000 horsepower at the crank. Dyno-verified at 860 horsepower at the wheels on pump E85.And it is rear-wheel drive, with a six-speed manual.That combination makes this a very different proposition from the modern supercar. There are no computers disguising what is happening behind you and no all-wheel-drive system quietly sorting out the consequences. This is an analog 996 with an extraordinary amount of power and a chassis deliberately engineered around it.BBI didn't stop at the engine. The transmission was rebuilt by GBox. A Carbonetic limited-slip differential, GT2 clutch hydraulics, 997 Turbo short shifter and Porsche Cup-car shift linkage handle the drivetrain. JRZ two-way remote-canister suspension, Porsche 996 Cup-car Brembo brakes, Type 3 rotors and three-piece HRE C21 wheels complete a chassis built for serious use.Inside are leather Recaro Pole Positions, extended carbon fiber, rear-seat delete, roll bar, red Sabelt FIA four-point harness, Porsche red three-point belts and a roll-bar-mounted fire extinguisher.Everything about the car tells you what it was built to do.And yet, it has never been tracked.After BBI founder Betim Berisha personally drove and data-logged the completed car, it ultimately went into a Southern California garage and remained there, unstarted, for more than a decade.The current owner acquired it approximately two years ago and sent it to IMA Motorwerke in Chantilly, Virginia, for a comprehensive recommissioning. Rather than modernizing the car or changing the original concept, IMA returned it to its intended BBI specification.Even the tuning has provenance. Todd at Performance Automotive, who wrote the original calibration for BBI when the car was built, was brought back to retune it in cooperation with IMA. The result was 860 horsepower at the wheels on pump E85.The car shows 49,000 miles and is finished in Carrara White over black leather and carbon fiber. It sits on three-piece HRE wheels with fresh Toyo R888s.
