Seller descriptionShowHide
2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S''With my 911 S, I now understand why guys who can afford to spend $30,000 more than the cost of a Corvette for roughly the same performance do so,'' said one former C5 Corvette owner. ''Rides at speeds that are white knuckle affairs in the Corvette are casual, one hand on the wheel events in the 911.'' Autoweek, June 2006For consignment, a 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera Sshowing 55,610 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This star of Stuttgart retains its youthful and athletic appearance. This one has had the IMS bearing replaced and wears a fresh set of tires.Exterior Specs amongst 911 owners are a big deal and some would argue that the choice here is one of the most favored, beginning with spectacular Black paint, a deeply rich hue that is complemented by 19-inch five spoke wheels known colloquially as lobster claws. The coveted crest is planted firmly on the aerodynamic nose of this 911 between headlights that bow to the wind and hover over flush marker lights, and all lenses show some bubbling in the protective covering. The rear profile steals the spotlight with flush tail lights hugging the wide body, the louvered tail in its poised position, and the quad exhaust tips with slightly offset sizes that all make for a fantastic detail. Imperfections include various minor chips, scratches, general inclusions, some checking clear, a long scratch and other marks along the rocker panel, bubbling and border cracking of the gravel guards, underbody scrapes in back and chin scrapes up front. Interior Black on black starts with the attractive door panels that combine plastic, leather, and a carpeted insert with the contoured nickel door handle and black switchgear and both present cleanly other than some patina on the driver's door pull. Porsche's distinctive buckets seats are up front, tall and supple and showing some light usage along with some wear on the driver's side while the kid's seats in back and seat belts look clean. Nickel, gray and black cover the 3 spoke steering wheel and dashboard with attention to art, and Porsche's five gauge configuration, here with white faces, should be on everyone's bucket list. Even the clock that's perched on the dashboard is excellent, followed by a center stack with a 5.8'' screen and AM/FM/CD radio and lots of buttons. In the center console resides the perfectly formed shifter in an L-patterned track over black carpet and plush mats. The headliner is adorned with charcoal Alcantara and the front trunk is a deep and clean space currently holding the car cover.Drivetrain In back, you'll find a clean bay housing the rebuilt 3.8 liter flat 6 cylinder engine, water cooled and fuel injected and putting out 355 horsepower. It's mated to a Tiptronic 5-speed automatic transaxle keeping power to the back wheels through 3.44 gears. As mentioned, the IMS bearing has been replaced. Undercarriage Most of the underside is reserved for aerodynamic belly pans which are clean and engine components and exhaust show some typical time oxidation and otherwise unmarred. The dual exhaust runs through original equipment mufflers and power disc brakes are supplied to all four wheels. Suspension entails Macpherson struts up front and a multilink with coil springs in back.Drive-Ability There is no substitute and that becomes eminently clear after about five minutes behind the wheel. Great ergonomics and the roar of that mighty flat six behind you is worth the price of admission. All functions afforded driver and passenger operate as they should on this 20 year old sportscar legend. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Remember Porsche designed Carrera sunglasses from the 80's? While they may have gone out of style a long time ago, a 911 of any vintage will forever be in vogue. In fact, the older they get, the more desirable they become. Some say 911's have gotten too big of late, but the 997 is the Goldilocks of 911's, it's just right in every way.Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).The largest single location consignment dealer of classic and collectible vehicles in the country is located in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, just 1-hour west of Philadelphia off Exit 298 of the I-76 Pennsylvania Turnpike. For more information visit www.classicautomall.com or call us at (888) 227-0914.
