This particular example was bought new by the current owner, who had his triple-black Porsche 964 stolen by a valet. He couldn’t find a suitable replacement, so he just purchased a new one in the same specification as his 964. This 993 was built in October of 1997 and sold new on April 25th, 1998, by Steve Taub Porsche of Santa Monica, California. Upon receipt, we performed the following: Replace hood and deck lid strutsNew rear spoiler wallMajor detailFull paint correctionRemove wheels and under panelsSteam clean underside, wheel wells, backs of wheels2 step paint polishSteam clean undersideLeather reconditioning/dye steering wheelPaintless dent removalThe exterior of this 993 is in very good condition considering the age and miles. The paint on all the metal panels appears to be original and verified with a paint meter. Naturally, there are minor signs of use with road rash on the front nose and some minor chips/nicks. We’ve had touch-up paint professionally applied where needed as well as careful paintless dent removal. The soft top is in good shape and shows minimal signs of use. The rear plastic window is clear with just a light haziness from age, which is typical. There are no major tears or other issues with the top. All the light lenses are in good shape with slight yellowing of the headlights. All the exterior lights work. The glass is in good shape with no major chips or cracks, and all the proper factory stampings are present. The original 17” Cup II wheels have some light curb rash on a couple of wheels. They are wrapped in Michelin tires. Although there are no signs of age, they should be replaced soon due to time. The front tires have near full tread and are dated 2018. The rear tires are at a third life/wear indicator and dated 2016. The front brakes have between a third and half-pad life with lips on the rotors. The rear brakes are at about half-pad life or more. The interior is equally as nice and original with just light signs of use. The leather seats have no tears or rips and just some typical light wear on the exit bolsters. The rear seats look near new. The headliner of the soft top has no tears, but some light sagging. The carpet is in good shape with some heavier heel wear on the driver’s foot area. The front floor mats are newer and in good shape. The door panels are also in good shape with just slight warping of the door pockets. The dash has no major cracks except for some very light/small hairline cracks on the gauge binnacle. All the gauges work properly, including the clock with no error messages. The power mirrors, windows, and convertible top all work properly. The newer Porsche Classic radio also works. There are light scratches on the display screen. The A/C system blows very cold.This 993 starts easily and holds an even idle. The power is strong throughout the rev range with no hesitation. The clutch engages properly with no slipping, and the transmission shifts smoothly through all the gear changes. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The handling is good, and the car tracks straight. This example feels tight and drives as good, if not better than, 911s with half the miles.This 993 has current California registration valid through April of 2027, and it recently passed the CA smog test. This Carrera includes 2 keys, 2 immobilizer remotes, owner’s manuals with the vinyl case, original maintenance booklet with dealer stamps, service receipts from new, front license plate bracket, wheel locks with socket key, original radio, floor mats, jack, air compressor, tool kit, and space saver spare tire/wheel with plastic bag.
