Buyer-facing read on this listing
The 996 variant of the 911 was introduced for the 1999 model year and helped bring the popular model into mainstream buyers' attention. This was a 911 that could be driven everyday, easy to use, easy to service, and comfortable for any shaped person. The styling still resembled the well known 911 shape but with a modern, fresh interpretation, it was also revolutionary for Porsche as it was the first water-cooled 911 to be introduced for sale. The Cabriolet version of the 996 has a fully automatic power soft top with a heated glass rear window, no manual locking mechanism necessary, just push the button! The rear seats fold down flat making a nice luggage shelf and there is room in the front trunk for a couple of small carry-on size suitcases making it fairly practical for long road trips. Today the 996 is having a resurgence of interest from new Porsche owners since they are a welcome analog experience in today's increasing see of hybrid and EV daily drivable model that still performs well with modern cars and as new 911s become more and more expensive,This 2003 model year 996 Cabriolet was built in December of 2002 and sold new by Barrier Porsche of Bellevue, WA on June of 2003 to its one original owner who has kept the car in pristine condition and has only serviced the car at the dealer according to its scheduled maintenance. The car has traveled only 43,000 miles and still looks almost factory fresh today. The specification is impressive starting with the beautiful and somewhat rare color of Orient Red Metallic which looks incredible in the sunlight. The interior and soft top are finished in Black and most importantly, this car was built with a proper 6-speed manual gearbox. Standard equipment includes: 3.6L DOHC, 24-valve, Flat-six cylinder motor producing 320hp w/VarioCam Plus, cruise control, trip computer, power windows-remote locking with alarm, digital climate control, ABS 4-wheel disk braking, dual-front dash/door airbags, adjustable steering column, Options fitted include: Removable painted factory hard top, Heated power seats w/ memory, 18-inch Carrera alloy wheels w/ colored crests, BOSE CD stereo pkg, PSP-Stability management, Xenon headlamps, Removable windscreen, Aluminum colored instrument dials, Flared rocker panels, stainless exhaust pipes, and Black floor mats. The car also has a factory hard top stand, and a fitted all-weather car cover. This 996 looks pristine inside and out, the paint is in great condition, the interior still smells new with only the driver's seat showing minimal seat to the outer bolster. All electrical equipment functions well and new Continental Extreme Contact tires have just been installed. Included with this car are 2-remote keys, original owner's manuals, sales brochures, hard top stand, complete tool kit, wheel lock key, and the windscreen with trunk storage bag. This is a great opportunity to acquire a rare color, one-owner, all-season drivable, well maintained 996 that will surely reward its next owner in lots of fun driving enjoyment and new memories to be had.
Price sits close to the current comparable average, so the decision will come down to condition, provenance, and how complete the file is.
Photo coverage is still thin at 1 image, so presentation quality is harder to judge without opening the source listing.
Documentation still reads thin here, so this is the kind of listing where invoice detail and specialist history should drive the next round of diligence.
