In 1994, the company announced the 993. Produced for only four years, the 993 proved to be the last of the air-cooled Porsches. Later cars, while ever more powerful and luxurious, don’t have quite the same ‘classic sports car’ feel the air-cooled models do. In comparison to the 964, the 993’s most obvious changes were its headlamps and fenders along with increased power (which was later increased further with the ‘Varioram’ intake). Its interior was largely the same, with a redesigned steering wheel and center console the most notable differentiators between the two models.Revisions also included the suspension, with Porsche continuing to develop the vehicle to further reduce lift-off oversteer. As with the 964, the 993 was available in coupe, cabriolet, and Targa (now with a power-retracting glass panel rather than the previous removable top insert) and with a choice of rear or all wheel drive. A choice of transmission: a new six-speed manual or optional Tiptronic automatic transmission, let buyers tailor their cars to their requirements. With all of these improvements, it’s no wonder enthusiasts and collectors instantly fell in love with the 993. These cars are some of the most collectible of any 911 as much for their historical value as their driving experience and impressive refinement. The investment-grade 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet featured here is finished in highly desirable and sought-after Ocean Blue mMetallic over an impeccably kept Classic Grey leather interior with a Dark Blue power convertible top. This exquisite 911 Carrera Cabriolet is among one of the finest examples we've offered in some time; given its meticulous maintainance history from new and having been driven a mere 28,267 miles from new, this is the perfect example to add to any premier collection. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own the very best an investment price!
This one currently reads below the comparable average by about $27,225, which makes documentation and condition the next things to verify.
Photo coverage is still thin at 1 image, so presentation quality is harder to judge without opening the source listing.
Documentation still reads thin here, so this is the kind of listing where invoice detail and specialist history should drive the next round of diligence.
